1. Acceptance of Terms
By registering for, accessing, or using The Listening Companions Tree platform, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and all applicable laws and regulations.
2. Eligibility
Our services are intended for individuals aged 50 years and older. By using TLC, you represent and warrant that you are at least 50 years of age. If you are using our service on behalf of someone else, you represent that you have the authority to bind that person to these Terms.
3. User Account
To access TLC’s services, you must create an account with accurate, complete, and current information. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account password
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
4. Service Description
TLC provides a peer-to-peer video companionship platform that allows 50+ companions to connect with one another for:
- Friendly conversation and social interaction
- Watching movies together
- General companionship and mutual support
5. No Professional Services
TLC does not provide, and our platform is not intended for:
- Medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
- Mental health counseling or therapy
- Crisis intervention services
- Legal advice or services
- Financial advice or planning
- Any other professional services requiring licensure
6. User Conduct
You agree NOT to use TLC to:
- Harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate other users
Impersonate any person or entity - Solicit money, gifts, or financial information from other users
- Record, screenshot, or distribute any conversations or video content
- Provide medical, legal, or financial advice
- Share personal contact information or attempt to meet users outside the platform
- Use hate speech, profanity, or discriminatory language
Engage in any illegal activities
7. ZERO TOLERANCE: Sexual Content and Inappropriate Behavior
THE LISTENING COMPANIONS TREE HAS A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY FOR SEXUAL CONTENT AND INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR.
The following behaviors are STRICTLY PROHIBITED and will result in IMMEDIATE AND PERMANENT removal from the platform:
- ANY form of sexual content, sexual language, or sexually suggestive behavior
- Nudity or partial nudity on video calls
- Sexual harassment of any kind
- Unwanted romantic or sexual advances
- Sharing or requesting sexually explicit images, videos, or materials
- Making sexual comments, jokes, or innuendos
- Exposing oneself or engaging in any sexual acts on camera
- Requesting or coercing others to engage in sexual behavior or conversation
- Grooming behavior or predatory conduct of any nature
- Sharing pornographic content or links to adult websites
There are NO warnings for sexual misconduct. First offense = permanent ban and potential reporting to law enforcement.
TLC is a SAFE SPACE for companionship, conversation, and friendship ONLY. Any sexual or inappropriate behavior violates the trust and safety of our community and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
8. Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality on TLC, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and software, are the exclusive property of The Listening Companions Tree and are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
9. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to TLC at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe:
- Violates these Terms of Service
- Violates our Community Guidelines
- Is harmful to other users, us, or third parties
- Violates any applicable law
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE LISTENING COMPANIONS TREE, ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, VOLUNTEERS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Listening Companions Tree and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising out of your use of the service or violation of these Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio, USA, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by posting the new Terms on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of TLC after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
